At BIA Hawaii, we celebrate builders who bring skill, precision, and heart to every project. Lex, founder of Solid Built Construction, Inc., is one of those builders—a professional with over 20 years of hands-on experience in residential and commercial construction, known for his commitment to quality, client satisfaction, and community service.

Building the Future: Mentorship & Community Impact

Lex launched Solid Built Construction, Inc. in 2009 with a mission to deliver work that goes “Beyond Standards.” The company has earned a consistent 5-star rating on Google and Yelp, a testament to Lex’s dedication to craftsmanship and professionalism. Specializing in custom homes, structural solutions, and large-scale renovations, Lex has overseen projects across Florida and Hawaii, earning industry recognition along the way—including a feature in Hawaii Home + Remodeling magazine.

Before founding Solid Built, Lex managed high-end residential and commercial projects as a Project Manager for national construction firms, handling budgets up to $2 million and leading the construction of multifamily, semi-custom, and luxury homes. He later worked with local Hawaii firms, managing additions, structural retrofits, and unique design-build projects.

Notable highlights include:

  • A complete condo renovation in Pearlridge, with full gut-out and redesign.

  • A custom Makakilo deck and indoor-outdoor conversion, recognized in Hawaii Home + Remodeling.

  • A design-build accounting office in Hoopili, completed from drawings to inspection in under a year.

  • A custom structural reinforcement project, completed under budget with engineered shear wall systems.

Beyond the tools and blueprints, Lex is also a builder of community. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Extreme Makeover, and remains actively involved in supporting local causes.

With a master’s degree in Construction Management (MBA, University of North Florida) and licensure as a general contractor (BC-36799), Lex brings both academic insight and field-tested experience to his work—and to the classroom. As an instructor and speaker, he emphasizes best practices, materials, and tradesmanship to help students and industry peers deliver exceptional results with every build.
