Strengthening Hawai‘i’s Workforce Through Safety

As a proud member of the Building Industry Association of Hawai‘i (BIA), HEMIC partners with BIA to provide essential safety training and resources, reinforcing our commitment to protecting businesses and workers across the state.

At HEMIC, Hawai‘i’s leading workers’ compensation provider, we go beyond insurance—offering personalized support, proactive safety solutions, and risk management services. From small contractors to large firms, we help employers build a culture of safety, reduce risks, and keep their teams protected.

My Journey in Safety & Risk Management

I discovered my passion for safety in 2015, balancing work, family, and my education. Though I initially pursued sales, I found my calling in risk control, gaining hands-on experience in CPR training, site inspections, and safety program development.

While earning my MBA at Chaminade University, I expanded my expertise in transportation, sanitation, and workers’ compensation. My career led me to safety consulting, where I worked across construction, cold storage, film, and electrical industries, developing safety programs and achieving IACET accreditation for safety training.

Giving Back Through BIA

Now at HEMIC, I’m honored to support Hawai‘i’s businesses with on-site consultations, OSHA compliance assistance, injury trend analysis, and workplace safety programs—including our Safety Credit Program, which rewards proactive safety measures.

Through BIA, I pay it forward, mentoring others as I was mentored and encouraging students to explore the diverse career paths in construction beyond building—including safety, teaching, and program management.

My message is simple: With the right company, you can achieve a fulfilling career, continuous learning, and a strong work-life balance. Together, we can build a safer, stronger Hawai‘i.
