Our Story: Joey Shibata Garza, CSP

Joey Shibata Garza, CSP, serves as the Safety Manager at McCabe, Hamilton & Renny Co., Ltd., Hawaii's oldest independently-owned stevedoring company, established in 1900. With a Bachelor of Science in Safety and Health from the University of Southern California, Joey has dedicated her career to fostering a culture of safety across various industries, including stevedoring, construction, mining, and healthcare. At McCabe, Hamilton & Renny, she leads the company's Safety and Health program, ensuring compliance and spearheading initiatives to enhance workplace safety culture.

Building the Future: Mentorship & Community Impact

Beyond her professional role, Joey is deeply committed to mentorship and community service. She lectures at Honolulu Community College, teaching and mentoring future safety professionals. Actively involved in industry organizations, she serves as a faculty advisor and board member for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and contributes to various safety advisory boards and community initiatives. Her extensive certifications, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and OSHA 500 Trainer, further solidify her reputation as a dedicated safety leader. Joey also holds leadership positions in organizations such as YMCA Camp Erdman, Sunshine School, and PSI Seminars Youth Programs, reflecting her commitment to community engagement.
